Along with the new construction of the Rhein-Main Congress Centre (RMCC) The central staircase and facade of the Landesmuseum in Wiesbaden have been rebuilt and restored. The synergy between these two prominent buildings creates a modern and high-quality urban square as an entrance to the district. Integrated planning has created a holistic, coordinated lighting concept for both the RMCC and the square and the Landesmuseum.
The multi-layered nature of the facade construction was similarly addressed in both buildings and visibly promoted in the evening cityscape.
Through the targeted use of the lighting distributions and the shadow casting of the upper cornice, the squat proportions of the neoclassical museum facade could be elegantly lightened, creating a more balanced relationship with the low colonnade row. The neutral white area spotlights create a contrast in light colour and spatial depth to the surface lighting within the colonnades in warm white.
Likewise, with the portico, the supports are highlighted by grazing light and contrasts against the flat illumination of the facade surface. Together with targeted accents, this creates a clear and three-dimensional image of the staging.
The glass dome on the Tower of the Winds could be evenly back-lit by simple means, which also benefits the spire.
