The squares and paths are staged with differentiation:

• At the Rathausplatz, the facade and gables are highlighted with precisely directed LED floodlights, the yellow wall surfaces are delineated, and the water channel is subtly accented in blue. The centre of the square remains free of tall mast lighting and is atmospherically perceived via light stones and illuminated serviceberries.
• Efficient LED technology is replacing the old mast lights in Bahnhofstraße and on Bahnhofplatz. Light stones and linear light elements mark paths, stairs and level changes, while handrails and trees are subtly illuminated – always at low light point heights in pedestrian areas.
• The underpass will be designed to be bright and safe: Support structure in 3000 K, natural stone walls in 2200 K, with concealed LED spotlights that create a gentle gradient of light and emphasise the transition between old and new sections.
• In Mühlenstraße and Kirchgasse, tree and wall accentuations, illuminated gable ends with relief, and handrail and wall lights create a subtle play of light and shadow that is also effective during the day.
• The Church of the Redeemer is specifically highlighted by mast-mounted and ground-recessed luminaires, which plastically accentuate the structure of the natural stone facade.
• In the Volmepark, the lighting is deliberately reduced and the blue content in the light spectrum is minimised to 2200K, to comply with species protection and to make the natural space and the night perceptible: a minimalistic sequence of low bollard lights, gently illuminated trees, a bridge and bank steps with subtle LED lines create orientation without light overflow.

Overall, this creates a location-specific, identity-forming, resource-efficient lighting concept that combines safety, orientation, and quality of stay, making the character of Schalksmühle tangible both day and night.
