The main station, designed by Ingenhoven Architects as the centrepiece of Stuttgart's 21st-century urban development project, is currently under construction and scheduled for completion by 2027.
In 1997 and 2001, we took the first daylight measurements on models of different scales to make well-founded statements about daylight incidence. Daylight is an essential component of the station hall, which extends beneath a car park adjacent to the historic Bonatz Building. The curved chalice shape of the columns guides light smoothly into the space, and despite its underground location, it elegantly conveys the impression of a modern, daylight-flooded station hall.
