The beauty of bridges lies in their form – form follows function – and function follows statics.

The task of lighting a bridge is to adequately illuminate the traffic areas. However, the special feature lies in making the characteristic form of the bridge visible in the evening landscape. In the case of the state road 2242 crossing over the A9 at the Fürth/Erlangen interchange, the arched beam, which spans the 6-lane motorway without supports, was outlined with a concealed LED strip, which emphasises the inner sides of the beam with grazing light.
