Trier Roman Bridge

Lighting concept The lighting of the bridge creates a distinctive light identity for the site. It emphasises the historical character through appropriate staging of the materiality, while remaining equally unobtrusive. The side surfaces of the bridge piers are illuminated with a very warm light colour (2,200K) – the light sources are shielded in such a way that light spill past the bridge is largely avoided.
The pillars themselves are fitted with a strip of light along their upper edge, which shines downwards along the pillar's surface. The traffic area on the viaduct remains free of obtrusive lighting fixtures: the illumination comes solely from the parapet.
The riverside path is illuminated by well-shielded wall-recessed luminaires on the wall. This keeps the view of the Moselle and the bridge unimpeded by light points and their reflections in the water.
