The spacious suburban park „Im Gefilde“ is located in Ramersdorf-Perlach. Nestled amidst the sweeping meadows and rolling hills lies a leisure area featuring a football pitch, a basketball court and a spacious skate park. The facility, which has been in operation since 2012, is a popular destination for sport and play among Munich’s residents. Spectacular jumps on skates, boards and scooters can be seen here all day long, and to ensure the fun can continue into the evening, a lighting system was eventually installed. Uniform illumination with minimal shadowing ensures good visibility for sports and stunts – whilst at the same time, light pollution is largely confined to the site itself.

The lighting is activated as needed by a classic traffic light switch. However, at 10:00 PM, the city switches off the lighting to limit energy consumption and reduce the environmental burden.
