Lighting Masterplan for the Freiham-Nord New Development Area as a Pilot Project for the Restructuring of Munich's Street Lighting

Building on an undeveloped urban landscape, a master plan for the lighting of the Freiham Nord district is presented here, with the aim of uniting all aspects of holistic lighting design. The lighting serves traffic safety and influences the feeling of well-being and security. It shapes the perception of urban spaces and areas and is intended to positively influence the evening and night-time cityscape. This includes making urban structures perceptible, providing orientation through intuitive recognition of routes and hierarchies, as well as enhancing the quality of stay in squares and parks. Special and memorable elements of the city, such as squares, junctions, open spaces, and pathways, are to be design features, supported by lighting.
