Lighting concept for the competition design of the town wall surroundings in Schongau

Schongau Town Wall FV

Lighting concept The comprehensive city wall is intended to be experienced in its entirety both from a distance and when walking along it, even in the evening. Masts with spotlight heads will be installed at regular intervals along the paths to illuminate the traffic areas without exhibiting their own luminosity visible from afar. Thus, the luminaires themselves remain unobtrusive and give precedence to the effect of the wall: Additional spotlights illuminate the wall, gates, and towers from the same masts. This will be done much more distinctively than before: a warm white light colour with good colour rendering will be used, making white and beige tones as well as vegetation green clearly visible. Towers, gates, and projections will be specifically accented, and the brightness will fall off as a gradient towards the flat surfaces.
The shrubs allow the wall surface to show through and stand out darkly against the cityscape like a silhouette.
By using well-shaded LED lighting technology with minimal stray light and glare, traffic areas are illuminated without creating „fear zones“; the townscape is appropriately showcased, and yet the "night is preserved".
