Lighting concept The lighting picks up on the transition from cantilevered buildings with built-in downlights to open spaces with pole lights, creating an overarching rhythm and dynamism along the length of the waterfront promenade. The light points integrated into the parapet are also deliberately designed not to create linearity, but rather to provide a subordinate rhythm, discernible through the light pattern on the ground. The view across the lake remains unobstructed and glare-free from most perspectives.
The linearity and pulse of the red band are highlighted by the natural colour contrast and targeted lighting accents at changes of direction and systoles. As the band alternates to three-dimensionality as seating, the light image inverts, emphasizing the plasticity of the forms through underlighting. Step lights and orientation lights, partly integrated as seating, provide guidance on the walkways.
On the plaza surfaces, the masts remain oriented outwards, emphasising the edges of the space and consciously leaving the inner areas free for playful light accents: bench underlighting and subtle plant illuminations create a cosy atmosphere for visitors.
All squares and paths are illuminated by individually adjustable spotlight heads on masts with high plasticity and brilliance.
Only the tree hall at Gebrüder-Wright-Platz will be illuminated by suspended rope lights, creating a lively play of light and shadow between the treetops.
